CYBERSECURITY Awareness Training
Who Should Attend:
Dealer Principals, General Managers, Controllers, Office Managers, Sales/Service/Parts Managers
Program Duration:
2-hour ONLINE workshop
In December 2019, one of the largest dealerships in Florida was the target of a ransomware attack. The company was left footing a $285,000 bill to replace affected computers.
The FBI Cyber Task Force reports the estimated remediation costs for business to be higher at “close to half a million dollars”.
73% of consumers report that, “they would be more comfortable working with a dealership staff that has completed cybersecurity awareness training and display their certifications”, according to Total Dealer Compliance.
The 3 Most Import Laws of CYBERSECURITY:
This course introduces the concept of the 3 most important CYBERSECURITY laws and uses them as a learning launch pad. The laws are:
- 1) If you have data, you have cyber risk.
- If there is a vulnerability, it will be exploited.
- Humans are far more vulnerable than technology.
Law Enforcement and This Workshop:
Cybercrime, not unlike traditional crime, can be a costly, unwanted nightmare for organizations and individuals alike. For years, various law enforcement agencies have been helping educate people on crime prevention by using something called The Crime Triangle.
The Crime Triangle is essentially an equation that identifies 3 factors involved in a criminal offense. Authorities say that with all of the elements in the crime equation or triangle connected, it’s easier for criminals to commit crime.
The factors of the triangle are: the offender committing the crime; the victim of the crime; and the opportunity or environment for the crime to be committed.
OFFENDER + VICTIM + OPPORTUNITY = CRIME
Authorities use this crime equation to illustrate how you can prevent crime by avoiding vulnerable environments and not giving a criminal the opportunity to make you a victim.
Bestselling author and cybersecurity awareness educator Danny Pehar has adapted The Crime Triangle to create the Cybercrime Equation that’s also used as a powerful learning methodology:
What the Course Will Cover:
Backed by the Cybercrime Equation, this course will go into detail about the specifics of a
hacker’s target. At the root of it, hackers are targeting sensitive information. This workshop teaches employees how to recognize sensitive information and how to protect it, the foundation to any effective cybersecurity awareness training.
From there, your team will learn how to recognize cyber attacks, diving into the type of attacks that are most popular with hackers. They’ll learn not just about the different types of malware, but specifically how hackers use social engineering to play on the emotions of their victims. Employees will learn how to spot these attacks and how to avoid them.
Once employees understand what hackers are targeting and how they are attacking, they’ll learn where they are most vulnerable to a hacker, like passwords, e-mail, computers, the office, public Wi-Fi, etc. And of course they’ll learn how to protect themselves in these vulnerable avenues.
Lastly, it’s important to arm your employees with the right tools in the event your company is breached. This course will educate your team on what to do if they believe they’ve been impacted by a security incident and how to report it.
Course Breakdown and Inclusions:
- Introduction to CYBERSECURITY Awareness
- What is Sensitive Information and How to Protect It
- How Hackers use Social Engineering to Trick You
- Suspicious Links and How to Avoid Them
- Safe Web Security
- Password Security
- Office Security
- Mobile Security

- Computer Security
- Public Wi-Fi Security
- Incident Reporting – How to spot an incident and properly report it (and why that is a good thing)
Changing Behavior versus Merely Sharing Information:
The most significant reason that this course is unlike any other, is that it is the only course built from the ground up with the sole purpose of changing behavior. Awareness training is meaningless unless it changes human behavior. We have developed a methodology that allows us to clearly move beyond merely sharing information and actually change behavior.
